The day started with a clean and glassy 4to6 foot swell. About 10AM it started to pick up a little and then it happened. I could hardly belive what was going on. The rush to the water from all the Pipe houses was like nothing I have ever seen. Taking photos was the last thing on my mind, but I couldn't help myself. I later found out it was Malik. About 10:45 or so there were only a few surfers and body boards in the water. For some strange reason the surf started to drop, as if it knew it had taken someone. It's a day I will never forget.
